Registration for Rockies-Gold 2010 Closes Monday, Sept
6th
Important Notice: The major renovation at the original
HQ, the Holiday Inn in Frisco, had fallen far behind and the facility was not
going to be acceptable for Rockies-Gold 2010. As a result, WingNutZZ
cancelled the contract with the Holiday Inn on Aug 4th and has now arranged for
lodging and events at the Copper Mountain Resort, approximately 7 miles west of
Frisco on I-70 (CO-91 and I-70). With nicer facilities and ground, no
construction, and additional activities, Copper Mountain Resort and Rockies-Gold
will be the place to make some great memories. It should be a great
experience.
In order to make this deal with Copper Mountain (be sure to check out the
schedule of events, including the bon-fire and band on Friday evening) it is
important that everyone switch from the other hotels to Copper Mountain as soon
as possible.
After you make the reservation at Copper let WingNutZZ know so that he can
update your registration -- change-cancel@rockies-gold.net
Copper Mountain Resort will be the Headquarters for Rockies-Gold 2010, providing a
great facility for our gathering.

The Copper Mountain Resort is the ideal location, placed amidst
the Rocky Mountains and conveniently
accessible from I-70 and only 80 miles west of Denver (DEN).
Copper Mountain is one of the resorts in Summit County offering world-class skiing at
Arapahoe Basin, Breckenridge, Keystone, Loveland Basin and Copper Mountain ski
areas. Each ski resort offers a vast amount of summer activities that are
sure to be fun for the whole family. During summer months enjoy mountain
biking, golfing, hiking, sailing and fishing on beautiful Lake Dillon.
Silverthorne Outlet shops are only a ten minute drive as well as
historic Main Street Frisco featuring wonderful restaurants, night life
and boutiques. Take a ride on the “Summit Stage”, Summit County’s
free local transportation bus station located adjacent to the hotel (service
hours vary by season).
The Athletic Center at Copper Mountain will be available for your use at
no extra charge, with an exceptional weight room, cardio room, and swimming. For an additional charge you can enjoy a spa,
massage, and other activities.
Enjoy breakfast or dinner at one of the several restaurants and bars in
the Center Village. If your room has a kitchen, then you will also
have even more options.
We are still working on where our bike wash station will be located.
An envelope with name tag, lanyard, and an updated schedule will be
available (location TBD) upon your arrival.
Free internet is available in the following buildings:

13Aug10: Most attendees have completed their
switch from the Holiday Inn to Copper Mountain. No more rooms are being
held for us at Copper, but there should be some type of rooms available, and
based upon availability you should still use our code and you will be able to
get our rates.
Copper Mountain Resort has many different types of rooms at various prices
available. WingNutZZ was able to block the Silver Standard Room (very
nice) at a rate of $85/night, only slightly higher than that which was planned
at the Holiday Inn (and the Copper facilities are much nicer); other types of
rooms have also been blocked with smaller numbers of availability. Copper
Mountain has other rooms and suites available at reduced rates also, so if you
want to make this a truly special event you might consider one of the larger
rooms -- the additional amenities can be very nice. If several of you are traveling together and want to share a
2-bedroom,
these will provide you with separate bedrooms, living room, and kitchen -- very
nice.
When you call to make your reservations at Copper Mountain,
discuss the room rates and options with the booking specialist. Please
note that this is a resort and there are restrictions on refunding your deposit;
however, if a true emergency (and emergency only) arises at the last moment,
then WingNutZZ will work with you and the resort to try to resolve the situation --
however, it must be resolved prior to your scheduled arrival.
It is important that you make this reservation only if you plan to attend as
your deposit will be forfeited if you do not attend.
Negotiated/Blocked Room Rates at the Copper Mountain Resort ($
per night, not including taxes);
You should be booked in the
"Center Village" so that
we will all be near each other and the Copper activities for our event.
Lots of options on various types of rooms; note that the
number of various room types are limited and you may not be able to get the type
of room that you desire; those marked with red are not blocked for our event,
but may also be available -- just ask the booking specialist.
You must make your reservations via
phone:
Rates vary according to the type of room (see above); our
largest block is for the Silver Standard Room, but consider any of the other
rooms to make this a wonderful experience.
Our rooms are blocked (various numbers) for Tuesday through
Saturday night; however, our rates will also be honored on nights prior to and
after our event.
Only slightly more expensive than the Holiday Inn (you
definitely want to get away from the construction there) and the Ramada Inn,
Copper Mountain is the place that you want to stay.
Check-in time is 4:00PM and check-out is 10:00AM. You will
check-in at the "Lodging Check-in/Athletic Club" facility on the right after you
enter the resort. They will check you in and direct you to your building
and room. You may park as they indicate to unload your bikes, keep them
parked there, or move them to the top level of the Parking Structure, the top of
which is reserved for us Tuesday-Sunday.
To make your reservation call Copper
Mountain Reservations at (866) 837-2996. You must use Group Code "3GK5FF"
and Group Name "Rockies-Gold." Reservations are open 9am-5pm MDT, 7 days/week.
The cancellation policy for the resort includes:
Individual Lodging Deposit Policy
A 15% deposit including tax and surcharge on the entire
length on stay will be required upon making reservations. The
balance on the room reservation is due 14 days prior to arrival and will
be automatically billed to the credit card on file.
Individual Lodging Cancellation Policy
For individual attendees who cancel their lodging
reservations, the following will be in effect.
• If canceled
15 days or more prior to arrival, refund on the deposit amount
received will be made less 10%.
• If canceled 14 days or
less prior to arrival, the individual is subject to full forfeiture of
the deposit.
If the cancellation is due to a true
emergency situation, then let WingNutZZ know right away so that he can
work this with the resort; we want to avoid cancellations if at all
possible as he has spent enough time organizing this event..
14-19 September 2010
(Tuesday-Sunday, or whichever nights you desire; if you want a few more full
days for riding, then try to arrive on Tuesday or leave on Monday; the
negotiated rates will be honored for additional nights).
NOTE: A lot of folks are arriving on
Tuesday to allow for four full days of riding in the area.
Once you have made
your reservations at Copper Mountain, call your original lodging facility and
cancel your reservation there -- you should do this immediately. Have your
reservation number available if possible.
Holiday Inn:
970-668-5000 or 1-800-HOLIDAY (465-4329)
-- the 800 number might be the rest way to go as this is the national number vs
their local number.
Ramada Inn:
(970) 668-8783; if questioned, tell them we are sorry but it is
due to the construction at the Holiday and that we all need to be together for
our group.
If you have already registered
for Rockies-Gold, then just send an e-mail to
change-cancel@rockies-gold.net
to confirm to WingNutZZ that you are now booked at Copper Mountain.
Once you have made your
reservations, please go to the
"registration" page and
submit your registration for Rockies-Gold. It is important that you
register as reservations will only be honored for those who have registered.
And when you register please do not
use all caps, and please capitalize the first letter only in your name and city
-- keeps someone else from having to correct this. We use these listing
for the nametags!!!
Camping information. Most of the camping in this area is either fairly
rustic (national forest campground) or quite upscale. If you wish to camp,
you should probably do your own research for camping/campgrounds for Summit
County, CO. A couple of links that might be useful are:
For those spouses who wish to attend but
who do not want to made a cross-country trip on the back of the bike to get to
Frisco, the best option is probably to fly into Denver International Airport,
located about 85 miles to the east.
